Tracy Spry, 62
Thief
River Falls - V. Tracy Spry, 62, died Thursday,
June 6, 2002 at Northwest Medical Center in Thief
River Falls. 
Funeral
services were held at 11 a.m. on Monday, June 10,
at Zion Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls with
Rev. Gary Johnson officiating. Ida Nordvall was the
organist, and the soloist was Kelsi Holland.
Serving as honorary casketbearers were Tracy's
co-workers from Northwest Medical Center. Green
Funeral Home of Thief River Falls was in charge of
the arrangements.
Vernon
Tracy Spry Jr. was born on May 27, 1940 at General
Hospital in Everett, Wash., the son of Vernon Tracy
Sr. and Ruth (Harrison) Spry. He was baptized and
confirmed in the Christian faith. Tracy attended
school in Iowa and graduated from West High School
in Minneapolis in 1958. In 1960, he entered the
U.S. Navy and was honorably discharged in
1964.
On
August 25, 1962, he was united in marriage to Sally
Ann Lockwood at Grace Presbyterian Church in
Minneapolis. The couple made their home in
Minneapolis where Tracy attended the University of
Minnesota for a year in 1964, Minneapolis
Vocational School from 1964 to 1966, and Dunwoody
Institute. He was employed as boiler operator and
service engineer at various Minneapolis hospitals,
including Asbury Methodist Hospital, Methodist
Hospital, and St. Mary's Hospital. He also worked
at Northwest Airlines and Power Process Equipment,
Inc. in Minneapolis. He worked as chief engineer at
Memorial Hospital, Menomonie, Wisc., 1971-1978; St.
Michaels Hospital in Stevens Point, Wisc.,
1978-1989, and St. Cloud (Minn.) Hospital,
1989-1994. In 1995, Tracy and Sally moved to Thief
River Falls where he worked as director of plant
operations and maintenance at Northwest Medical
Center.
Tracy
was a member of Kiwanis, Zion Lutheran Church,
Hospital Engineers Association in Minnesota and
Wisconsin, volunteer fireman department in
Menomonie, Civil Air Patrol, chair of the
properties and grounds committee at church, and
past member and state president of Wisconsin
Healthcare Engineering Association.
He
enjoyed golf, auto racing, working with electronic
gadgets and computers, and especially, spending
time with his grandchildren.
Surviving
Tracy are his wife, Sally of Thief River Falls; two
sons, Terry (Sue) Spry of Plover, Wisc. and Robert
Spry of Fargo, N.D.; two daughters, Sarah Spry of
Plover, Wisc. and Amy Spry of Clearwater; two
granddaughters; a sister, Sue (Reid) Schultz of
Urbandale, Iowa, and many other
relatives.
He
was preceded in death by his parents.
