Plummer
- Lloyd Sorenson, 75, died Tuesday, March 30,
2004 at his home in Plummer.
Funeral
service were held on Saturday, April 3, at Salem
Lutheran
Church in Oklee, with Rev. Bob Paulson and Rev.
Frank Ehling officiating. Casket bearers included:
Dennis Magnell, James Duchamp, Arlan Koskela,
Anthony Weber, Jerry Gerardy, Kenny Waldal, Roger
Skjerven, Lee Vigstol and Dr. Mark Carter.
Interment was held in the Salem Cemetery.
Lloyd
Sorenson was born September 29, 1928 on the family
farm in Garnes Township, Red Lake County, to Harry
and Agnes (Anderson) Sorenson. He was baptized and
confirmed at the Salem Lutheran Church near Oklee.
He attended Willow Ridge Country School and stayed
on the family farm.
Lloyd
was united in marriage to Wavell Siebert on
November 16, 1958 at the Lutheran Parsonage in
Goodridge, by Rev. Heltne. The couple made their
home on the Sorenson farm. They farmed small
grains, milked cows, raised sheep, chickens, pigs
and ducks. They moved to their current farm in
1966. Lloyd drove milk truck for the Plummer Co-op
Creamery for 18 years. He also drove school bus for
the Plummer school for 36 years.
Lloyd
enjoyed cutting wood, dancing, telling jokes,
listening to music, and feeding the birds.
Threshing bees were important also and Lloyd had
hosted many of them over the years. He enjoyed his
animals, being with people, playing cards, and he
always had a smile. He always enjoyed time with his
family and never missed a grandchild's event. He
also liked to go to basketball games. He has served
on the Plummer Creamery Coop Board for 30 years and
was active in the Republican Party and enjoyed
politics.
Survivors
include his wife Wavell of Plummer; four children:
Russell (special friend Martina Barrett) Sorenson
of Roseau, Rebecca (Tom) Willett of Plummer, Karl
(Rita) Sorenson of Plummer, Sheila (Tony) Gerardy
of Plummer, 10 grandchildren; two
great-grandchildren; two brothers, Kermit Sorenson
of Plummer and Virgil (Marie) Sorenson of Plummer;
two sisters, Janice (Earl) Melvie of Thief River
Falls; Corlan (Bob) Kleinschmidt of Hutchinson and
several nieces and nephews.
He
was preceded in death by parents; his brother in
law Charlie Magnell; and one nephew, Jason Magnell.
