Myrtle C. Sollund, 87

Karlstad - Myrtle C. Sollund, 87, died on Saturday, Feb. 7, 2004.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 12, at Bethel Lutheran Church in obit-Myrtle Sollund Karlstad, with Pastor Mitch Tolpingrud officiating. Casket bearers included Myrtle's grandchildren.

Myrtle Clara Sollund, the daughter of the late Lewis and Christine (Lindberg) Olson, was born on October 27, 1916, in Deerwood Township of Kittson County. She grew to womanhood there, being baptized and confirmed at Eidsvold Lutheran Church in Halma. She attended the former Beaton Country School and graduated from Karlstad High School in 1936.

On June 16, 1938, Myrtle was united in marriage to John M. Sollund at Teien, near East Drayton. Following their marriage, the couple made their home in Karlstad where she was a homemaker and worked in the family plumbing business. She was a long time member of Bethel Lutheran Church of Karlstad, and active in Ladies Aid and was a Sunday School teacher for many years.

John passed away August 12, 1974, and Myrtle continued to make her home in Karlstad and to help in the business. She also helped friends and neighbors with household jobs. She entered the Karlstad Healthcare Center in September of 2001.

Survivors include three sons: Harvey (Bonnie) and James (Carol), both of Karlstad, and Arlyn (Darlene) of Bemidji; one daughter, Gale (Gaylord) Erickson of Circle Pines; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Gladys Sollund of Hallock; in addition to many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, four sisters: Mabel Blomquist, Elsie Johnson, Anna Bjorgaard, and Josie Sollund; two brothers: Albert and Willie Olson, and one grandson. A00003B2004FB11
