Plummer
- Orlando Solberg, 77, died Monday, May 13,
2002 at Pioneer Memorial Care Center in Erskine.
Funeral
services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday,
May 16, at Ebenezer Lutheran Church at Oklee with
Rev. Frank Ehling officiating. Gelene Lundeen will
be the organist. Casketbearers will be Rick
Salentiny, Maynard Solberg, Dominic Solberg, Monte
Haugen, Dean Austad, and Rodney Burns. Burial will
be in Ebenezer Cemetery.
Visitation
will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. today (Wednesday, May
15) with a 7 p.m. prayer service at Green Funeral
Home in Thief River Falls. Visitation will also be
for one hour prior to services at the
church.
Orlando
Richard Solberg was born on July 14, 1924 at the
Mayfield Township farm of his parents, John and
Malla (Bagstad) Solberg. He attended a country
school in Mayfield Township and the Northwest
School of Agriculture in Crookston. Following high
school, he entered the U.S. Army on March 3, 1946.
He was awarded the World War II Victory Medal and
Army Occupation Medal and was honorably discharged
on August 19, 1947.
In
1968, he was united in marriage to Marlo Jean
Larson in Minneapolis. The couple lived on a farm
near Plummer where they raised small grains and
dairy cattle. Orlando retired in 1999.
Survivors
include two sons, Lance (Brenda) Solberg of Deer
River and Keith Solberg of Plummer; three
grandchildren; two brothers, James Solberg of
Plummer and Merlin (Maxine) Solberg of Babbitt; and
several nieces and nephews.
Preceding
Orlando in death were his parents; a sister, Iola
Wilson; two brothers, Garvan and Elmer Solberg; and
a niece.
