Shevlin
- Shirley Smith, 69, died Thursday, August 23,
2001 at her home in Shevlin.
Funeral
services will be held at 11 a.m. today (Wednesday,
August 29) at Clearwater Lutheran Church in Shevlin
with Rev. Linda Tenneson officiating. Interment
will be in Clearwater Lutheran Cemetery in Shevlin
with Cease Family Funeral Home of Bagley in charge
of the arrangements.
Shirley
MacDonald was born on August 5, 1932 in Middle
River, the daughter of Herman J. and Anna
(Anderson) MacDonald. She was baptized and
confirmed in the Lutheran faith and attended Monroe
Country School and graduated from Newfolden High
School. She worked in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area
for eight years.
On
September 2, 1956, Shirley married Earl Smith in
Middle River. The couple moved to Bagley in 1959
and to Shevlin in 1961. She was employed as a
bookkeeper by Arena Sorts, Wilde Construction, and
Ted Ekre Trucking, all in Shevlin, and Pete's Place
West in Bemidji until April of 2001.
She
had served as the Shevlin city council treasurer
since 1976 and was a member of Clearwater Lutheran
Church of Shevlin and AARP.
Shirley
is survived by three sons, Gregory (Gail) Smith of
St. Maries, Idaho, Michael (Candi) Smith of Shevlin
and Dean (Tammy) Smith of Fisher; and six
grandchildren.
She
was preceded in death by her parents and several
