- Gertrud Smith, 78, of Greenbush, died on
Wednesday, June 23, 2004 at her home in Greenbush.
Funeral
services were held on
Monday,
June 28 at United Free Lutheran Church of
Greenbush, with Pastor Ken Hart officiating. Casket
bearers included nine grandsons, Joshua, Jason,
Richard, Curtiss and Ryan Smith, Erick and Keith
Wojciechowski, Gary Whipps, Jr. and Steven
Cerkowniak. Honorary casket bearers included her
grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great
grandchildren.
Gertrude
Marie Anderson, the daughter of E. Dewy and Ruth
(Severson) Anderson was born in Stokes Township,
Roseau County, on January 24, 1926. She grew up and
attended country schools in Stokes and Nereson
Townships.
She
was married to Fred Smith. They farmed in rural
Badger. She also worked at the Roseau Children's
Home in Roseau. Fred Smith died in 2000. Gertrude
was active in senior citizens groups and was a
member of the United Free Lutheran Church . She
enjoyed spending time with family and friends,
playing Bingo, listening to old time music, dancing
and attending Northern Neighbors trips.
Survivors
include four sons, David (Vicki) of Roseau, Miles
(Lyla) of Middle River, William (Susan) of Badger
and Jay (Ardell) of Badger; four daughters, Sheila
(Dean) Wojciechowski of Greenbush, Linda (Dale)
Wojciechowski of Badger, Rebecca (Gary) Whipps of
Fergus Falls and Julie (Donald) Cerkowniak of Lake
Bronson; 18 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren;
and two great-great-grandchildren.
She
was preceded in death by her parents; a son-in-law,
Tom Perry; one sister, Isabel Lein; one grandson;
and one granddaughter.
