River Falls - Andrew Slininger, 17, died
Monday, August 6, 2001 at Altru Hospital in Grand
Forks, N.D.
Funeral
services were held Saturday, August 11, at St.
Bernard's Catholic Church in Thief River Falls with
Father Tim McGee officiating. Kara Larson was the
organist, and the soloist was Shelly Burkel.
Casketbearers were Carey Slininger, LeRoy
Slininger, Craig Slininger, Arnold Strand, Daryl
Lafferty and Shane Deziel. Burial was in St.
Bernard's Cemetery with Green Funeral Home of Thief
River Falls in charge of the
arrangements.
Andrew
"Andy" Lee Slininger was born on September 18, 1983
in Grand Forks, N.D., the son of Kenneth and Renae
(Slininger) Strand. He was baptized into the
Catholic faith in June of 1985. Andy resided in the
nursing ward at Grafton State School in Grafton,
N.D. He attended Windom Elementary School in Windom
and Franklin Middle School and Lincoln High School
in Thief River Falls.
He
enjoyed swimming, playful fighting with his hands,
being cuddled, bowling, going for walks and being
outdoors. He was an avid Vikings fan and had the
opportunity to attend a Vikings training camp in
Mankato.
Andy is
survived by his mother, Renae (fiance James Cooley)
Strand of Thief River Falls; his dad, Ken (Angie)
Strand of Larimore, N.D.; a brother, Ken Strand Jr.
of Thief River Falls; two sisters, Katie and Cearra
Strand of Thief River Falls; his grandparents,
Gordon Strand of Larimore, N.D. and Shirley and
Ralph Slininger of Thief River Falls; a
great-grandmother, Alma Gagner of Red Lake Falls;
several aunts and uncles; and many other
relatives.
He was
preceded in death by his grandmother, Della
Karlson; and great-grandparents, Wilfred Gagner and
Katie and Arthur Slininger
