Sjovall, 87
Thief
River Falls - Norma Sjovall, 87, died Thursday,
August 9, 2001 at her home near
Strandquist.
Funeral
services were held at 2
p.m. on
Monday, August 13, at Eidsvold Lutheran Church near
Halma with Rev. Mark Hanson and Rev. Erling Huglen
officiating. Kirsten Olson was the organist, and
soloists were Dion Larson, Ramona Sjovall and April
Sjovall. Casketbearers were Valerie Sjovall, Andrew
Melgaard, April Sjovall, Austin Lefrooth, Dean
Klegstad, Ronald Klegstad and Greg Lefrooth. Burial
will be in the church cemetery with Green Funeral
Home of Thief River Falls in charge of the
arrangements.
Norma Rue
was born on November 11, 1913 on the family farm
near Halma, the daughter of Nils J. and Ingeborg
(Ligaard) Rue. She was baptized at Eidsvold
Lutheran Church of Halma and attended school in
Halma and Karlstad.
On
November 29, 1934, she was united in marriage to
Einar Eugene Seth Sjovall at the Eidsvold
parsonage. During her life as a homemaker, Norma
wrote many gospel songs for both children and
adults and was a published poet. Einar died on
January 10, 1995.
Norma was
a member of Eidsvold Lutheran Church of Halma where
she served as a Sunday school teacher and
superintendent and Ladies Aid president.
Survivors
include a son, E. Roger (Veronica) Sjovall of
Minneapolis; two daughters, Ilona Laurel (Hans)
Melgaard of North Oaks and Ramona Elaine (fiance
Greg Lefrooth) Sjovall of Strandquist; four
grandchildren; and a brother, Kenneth (June) Rue of
St. Paul.
Norma was
preceded in death by her parents; husband; two
sisters, Emma Martinson and Helen Klegstad; and
three brothers, John, Palmer and Bennie.
