Morris
- Albert Sjolsvold, 96, died on Sunday, April
13, 2003 at the West Wind Village in
Morris.
Funeral
services will be held on Saturday, April 26 at 10
a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls
with the Rev. Dennis Raymond officiating.
Visitation will be held for one hour prior to
services at the church. Interment will be in Park
Ridge Cemetery, near Thief River Falls.
Albert
Theodore Sjolsvold was born on April 8, 1907, the
son of John and Inga (Nelson) Sjolsvold, in Thief
River Falls. He grew up and attended school in
Thief River Falls and later, attended the Crookston
Agriculture School.
On
October 25, 1935, he married Verna Seaverson in
Thief River Falls. The couple made their home in
the Thief River Falls area, where they farmed for
ten years before moving into town. Soon after,
Albert began working for Hartz Warehouse, until his
retirement in 1972. In 1983, they moved to Morris.
Verna died in 1992 and Albert continued to live in
Morris. In 1995, he moved into the West Wind
Village, where he has since resided. Albert was a
member of First Lutheran Church in Morris and was a
past member of Zion Lutheran Church in Thief River
Falls. He was a long-time member of the Oddfellows
Lodge and was past-president of the Sons of Norway
in Thief River Falls. He had also been active with
the Senior Citizens Center in Morris. His favorite
hobbies included woodworking and
fishing.
Survivors
include his daughter, Darlene (David) Gunderson of
Morris; three grandchildren; two
great-grandchildren; and one sister, Gine Giebrok
of Louisiana.
Albert
was preceded in death by his wife; one daughter,
Betty Sjolsvold; a granddaughter; his parents; two
brothers, Henry and Oliver Sjolsvold; and two
sisters, Mabel Kelley and Ina Ruggles.
