"Gene" J. Sjoberg will be held at 11 a.m. on
Thursday, June 14, at Trinity Lutheran Church in
Thief River
Falls
with Rev. John Wollenzien officiating. Dee
Wollenzien will be the organist. Burial will be in
Greenwood Cemetery with Green Funeral Home of Thief
River Falls in charge of the
arrangements.
Eugene
J. Sjoberg, 86, died Saturday, March 24, 2001 at
his home in Naples, Fla.
Eugene
J. Sjoberg was born on August 23, 1914 in Middle
River, the son of Richard and Lena (Jallo) Sjoberg.
Following high school, he attended the Dunwoody
Institute in Minneapolis, and during World War II,
he was employed by Northwest Airlines, preparing
B-24 bombers for the war effort.
On
July 3, 1943, Gene was united in marriage to Maida
Nicholls. The couple resided in St. Paul until 1946
when they moved to Thief River Falls and started
Sjoberg's Appliance. In 1962, Gene started the
fourth cable television system in the state of
Minnesota. He retired in 1982 and had since divided
his time between Thief River Falls, Lake of the
Woods and Naples, Fla.
Gene
is survived by his wife, Maida; two sons, Richard
J. (Holly) and Stan E. (Sylvia), both of Thief
River Falls; a daughter, Julie (Robert) Hanning of
Long Lake; five grandchildren; and a sister, Ruth
Kroke of Stephen.
He
was preceded in death by his parents.
