Olga Shuman, 85

Thief River Falls - Olga Shuman, 85, died Sunday, September 23, 2001 at Northwest Medical Center in Thief River Falls.

Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. on Thursday, September 27, at Green Funeral Home in Thief River Falls with Rev. Terry Olson officiating. Wanda Vigness will be the organist, and Diane Johnson will be the soloist. Casketbearers will be Olga's niece, Connie Prickett, and her husband, Jerry, and grandnephews and their wives, Christopher and Lorrie Prickett and Todd and Darla Prickett. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Thief River Falls.

Visitation will be held from noon until the time of services at Green Funeral Home on Thursday.

Olga Marion Salte was born on November 11, 1915 in Hampden, N.D., the daughter of Ole and Ragna (Myhrum) Salte. She grew up and graduated from high school in Hampden.

On June 11, 1938, she was united in marriage to Donald Shuman in Devils Lake, N.D. The couple made their home in Antler, N.D. where they owned and operated Shuman's Bar until 1943 when they moved to Richmond, Calif. They resided in Richmond for three years before returning to Antler and resumed operation of their bar until retiring in 1982. In 1997, the couple moved to Thief River Falls where Olga had since resided. Donald died on September 4, 2000.

Olga was a member of Rebekah Lodge.

Her many hobbies included reading, crossword puzzles, oil painting, crocheting, playing the piano, baking and flower gardening.

Survivors include a sister, Doris (Carl) Hallquist of Thief River Falls; a brother, Maynard (Hazel) Salte of Longview, Wash.; and many nieces and nephews.

Olga was preceded in death by her husband, parents and three brothers, Orville, Clifford and Melvin. A00003B2001SP26
