Randyne Shern, 88

East Grand Forks - Randyne Shern, 88, died Saturday, June 22, 2002 at 4000 Valley Square in Grand Forks, N.D.

Funeral services will be held on Shern obit Friday, June 28, at 11 a.m. at Family of God Lutheran Church in East Grand Forks. Burial will be in Viking Cemetery in Viking.

Visitation will be held for one one prior to services. Stennes Funeral Home of East Grand Forks is in charge of the arrangements.

Randyne Banken was born on March 20, 1914 at rural Strathcona, the daughter of Ole and Bergit (Jevne) Banken. She grew up near Middle River in East Park Township of Marshall County and graduated from Middle River High School.

On November 1, 1934, she married Harry Shern. The couple lived in New Main Township of Marshall County and the Hallock area where they farmed. In 1987, they moved to East Grand Forks. Harry died on August 30, 1987.

Survivors include three sons, Jerry (Penny) Shern of East Grand Forks, Gene Shern of Petaluma, Calif., and Ron (Lois) Shern of Marrietta, Ga.; 11 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two great great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Clara Hanson of Newfolden and Bertha Blackburg of Karlstad.

In addition to her husband, Randyne was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Fred Banken. A00003B2002JU26
