Anna Setten, 90

Karlstad - Anna Maria Setten, 90, died on Tuesday, September 3, 2002 at Northwest Medical Center in Thief River Falls.

Funeral services were held on Anna Setten-bw Saturday, September 7 at Bethesda Lutheran Church in Strandquist with Rev. David Pretty officiating. Ellen Johnson was the organist. Special music was provided by the trio of Ann Woinarowicz, Brian DeMeyere and Brenda Carlson and the trio of Vangie Carlson, Corienne Jacobson and Yvonne Boen. Musical selections included "Jesus Only," "Softly and Tenderly," "Take The Name Of Jesus With You" and "My Jesus I Love Thee." Honorary casketbearers were all those who attended the service. Interment was in Hegland Church Cemetery.

Anna Maria Frei was born on August 17, 1912, the daughter of Peter and Minnie (Benson) Frei in Stephen. She grew up and attended school in Stephen. On January 18, 1936, she was united in marriage to Severt Setten near Strandquist. The couple farmed in Nelson Park Township for many years. Anna was a long-time member of the Bethesda Lutheran Church of Strandquist and was active in church affairs. She also served as church organist at Bethesda and at Hegland Lutheran Church. Anna was an avid quilter.

When Severt passed away in 1984, Anna moved to the Oakwood Homes in Karlstad, where she has since made her home.

Survivors include two daughters, Lois (Stanley) DeMeyere of Warren and Marlys (Lee) Kuznia of Barnesville; five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Alice Anderson of Warren and Lillian Lay of Bonsall, Calif.; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Anna was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; one sister, Vivian; five brothers, Arthur, Paul, Vernon, Philip and Robert Sheldon; and one grandson.
