Thief
River Falls - Gunhild Selmanson, 90, died
Thursday, October 2, 2003 at Northwest Medical
Center in Thief River Falls.
Funeral
services were held Tuesday, Oct. 7 at Our Saviour's
Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls, with Rev.
Terry Olson officiating. Wanda Vigness was the
organist. Casketbearers were Larry Gustafson, Dave
Rodahl, Loiell Dyrud, Lowell Trochman, Ed Nicholls,
Darrold Rodahl and Steve Bergland. Interment was in
East Walle Cemetery, rural Thompson,
N.D.
Gunhild
Olson was born August 30, 1913, in Effie, the
daughter of Bjorn "Ben" and Julia (Hegland) Olson.
She was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran
faith. She grew up and attended country school near
Bygland.
On
December 8, 1937, Gunhild was united in marriage to
Ole Selmanson at East Walle Church. In 1951, Ole
and Gunhild moved to St. Hilaire to farm. They sold
their farm and moved to Thief River Falls in
1973.
Gunhild
worked as a housekeeper and also worked at Arctic
Cat loading seat padding.
Survivors
include her sisters, Berniece Ferguson, Greeley,
Colo., and Tony Knutson, Los Angeles; two nieces;
and a nephew.
She
was preceded in death by her husband; parents;
brothers, Obert and Ole; and sisters, Toni and Inga
Brokke.
