Myrtle Schue, 86

Red Lake Falls - Myrtle Schue, 86, died on Thursday, March 20, 2003 at Hillcrest Nursing Home in Red Lake Falls.

Mass of Christian Burial was held on Monday, March 24 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Red Lake Falls with the Rev. Tim Bushy officiating. Polly Beyer was the organist and special music was provided by the St. Joseph Choir. Casketbearers were Jerry Boylan, Rick Boylan, Rob Boylan, Michael Schue, Jason Schue, Brian Schue, Rick Schue, Lawrence Schue, Steve Champagne, Scott Champagne, Craig Kennedy, Jason Kennedy, Nathan Schue, Justin Schue, Jay Webb and Richie Columbus. Honorary casketbearers were Missy Hemiadan, Shannon Schue, Jody Willms, Rachel Schue, Amy Palandina, Nicole Finnegan, Britney Columbus and Tina Diaz. Interment was in St. Joseph Cemetery.

Myrtle O. Cassavant was born on January 25, 1917, the daughter of James and Ida (Doyea) Cassavant, in Crookston. She was baptized at St. Anne's Church in Crookston. She grew up and attended school south of Dorothy, and helped raise her family after her mother died.

In June 1940, she married Peter Boylan. Peter died in December 1940.

On November 3, 1942, she was united in marriage to Lawrence G. Schue in Dorothy. She farmed and raised her family in Red Lake Falls. She was also employed as a cook at St. John's Hospital for a long period of time. She was a member of the St. Joseph Guild and Catholic Daughters. She liked needlepoint, gardening, cooking and playing cards. She especially enjoyed being with her family and grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband, Lawrence of Red Lake Falls; seven children, Pete (Sharon) Boylan of Crystal, Robert (Karen) Schue of Westminster, Calif., Larry (Judy) Schue of Franklin, Wisc., Jerome (Judy) Schue of Oklee, Alice (Dave) Champagne of South Milwaukee, Wisc., Rita (Lyle) Kennedy of Warroad, and Bernice (Michael) Columbus of Red Lake Falls; 25 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Viola Boylan of Superior, Wisc., and Bernice (Dale) Porter of Seattle, Wash.; and many nieces and nephews.

Myrtle was preceded in death by her husband, Peter Boylan; a son, Michael Schue; a grandson; sisters, Lily (Mose) Mireault and Florence (Paul) Bruneau; and brothers, Richard, Harry and Orren.
