Vernon E. Scholin, 80

Thief River Falls -- Vernon E. Scholin, 80, died Tuesday, November 13, 2001 at Northwest Medical Center in Thief River Scholin Obit 11/21 Falls.

Funeral services were held Friday, November 16, at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls.

Vernon Scholin was born May 23, 1921, in Bray Township, Pennington County, to Victor and Tina (Swanson) Scholin. He grew up and attended country school and the Agricultural School in Crookston. He then moved back to the farm.

On July 21, 1946, Vernon was united in marriage to June Nelson in Thief River Falls, where the couple made their home. He was employed at Bridgeman's for 34 years and then at the Technical College in the tool crib.

Vernon was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church, the Golden Kiwanis, the Sportsman Club and worked in the DFL party. He loved to square dance, fish, work with wood and visit with people.

Survivors include his wife June, Thief River Falls; daughters: Rebecca (Smith) Danielson, Hayesville, N.C., and Valerie (Jerry) Halverson, Cheyenne, Wyo., and a son Brian (Judy) Scholin, Pine City; four grandchildren; and several cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Vivian Bailey.
