Thief
River Falls - Rosella Schlofer, 88, died
Saturday, December 10, 2001 at Northwest Medical
Center in Thief River Falls.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. today
(Wednesday, December 5) at Faith Lutheran Church in
Goodridge with Rev. Robert Dahlen officiating.
Margie Iverson will be the organist, and Jodi
Peters will be the soloist. Casketbearers will be
John Lovly, Gordon Henrickson, Roger Kriel, Roger
Hoffman, Rodney Hoffman and Earl Halvorson.
Honorary casketbearers will be Rosella's
grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Interment
will be in Ekelund Cemetery.
Visitation
was held from 4 to 8 p.m. with a 7 p.m. prayer
service on Tuesday, December 4, at Green Funeral
Home in Thief River Falls. Visitation will also be
held for one hour prior to services at the
church.
Rosella
Lovly was born on April 23, 1913 to Peter and
Caroline (Gandrud) Lovly on the family farm near
Goodridge. She was baptized and confirmed at
Ekelund Lutheran Church near Goodridge and
graduated from Goodridge High School in 1931. She
attended Bemidji State Teachers College and several
summer sessions to earn a special education degree.
Rosella taught at several rural schools in
Pennington County and for many years in the special
education program at Goodridge School.
In
October of 1935, she was united in marriage to Joe
Schlofer. The couple made their home on a farm
southeast of Goodridge until 1964 when they moved
into Goodridge. In 1993, they moved to Thief River
Falls. Joe died on January 12, 1995, and Rosella
continued to reside at Skylite Apartments until
October, 2001 when she moved to Valley
Home.
She
was a member of Faith Lutheran Church and its
Ladies Aid and the Goodridge Area Historical
Society. Rosella was also a lifetime member of the
Teachers Retirement Association and WFLA
90.
She
enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, crocheting and
embroidery.
Rosella
is survived by a son, David (Diane) of Lakeville; a
daughter, Donna (Richard) Lian of Grand Forks; six
grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a
brother, Palmer (Irene) Lovly of Goodridge; and
several nieces and nephews.
She
was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
