Orville Schey, 82

Thief River Falls - Orville Schey, 82, died on Sunday, July 21, 2002 at Northwest Medical Center in Thief River Falls.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 25 at Faith Lutheran Brethren Church in Thief River Falls, with Rev. George Davis officiating. The organist will be Leanore Johnsen and Janice Ramsey will provide vocal selections. Casketbearers will be Michael Rood, Ronald Anderson, Philip Anderson, Keith Olson, Dean Olson, and Joel Borsvold. Interment will be in the Karlstad Cemetery. Visitation will also be held for one hour prior to services at the church.

Orville Lynn Schey was born to Henry and Emma (Bengtson) Schey on March 29, 1920 near Argyle in Alma Township, Marshall County. He attended Schey Country School near Argyle and Strandquist High School. On December 22, 1944, he entered the United States Navy. While in the Navy, Orville received the American Area Ribbon, Asiatic Pacific Area Ribbon and the World War II Victory Ribbon. He was honorably discharged on June 15, 1946.

Orville married Leonilla Anderson-Nelson on March 26, 1977 in St. Paul. He farmed on the Schey family farm, worked as a machinist at the Allis Chalmers Company in West Allis, Wisc., Minneapolis Moline Company in Minneapolis and Union Brass Faucet Company in St. Paul until his retirement in 1984. He was then self-employed as a handyman until last year.

Orville enjoyed working around the house, working in the yard and traveling. He was a life member of the VFW Everett-McClay Post 1296 in Minneapolis.

Survivors include his wife, Leonilla, Thief River Falls; seven sisters, Hazel Anderson, Tioga, N.D., Ethel McWhirter, Bloomington, Harriet Olson, Richfield, Verna (Dewey) Rood, Thief River Falls, Deloris Linder, Strathcona, Doris (Albert) Olson, Langdon, N.D., and Beverly (Gordon) Borsvold, Strandquist; an uncle; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers-in-law and two nephews.
