- Harold Scheie, 56, formerly of Warren, died
on Wednesday, September 10, 2003 at his home in
Crookston.
Memorial
services were held on Monday, September 15 at
Trinity Lutheran Church in Crookston with the Rev.
Randy Smith officiating. Interment was in Oakdale
Cemetery in Crookston with military honors accorded
by the Crookston Veterans Council.
Harold
Howard Scheie was born on May 3, 1947 in Warren,
the son of John Sr. and Ruby (Howard) Scheie. He
grew up and graduated from Warren High School in
1965. On February 8, 1965 he enlisted in the U.S.
Army and served two tours of duty in Vietnam with
the 7th Army-Company A. He was awarded the National
Defense Service Medal and two Vietnam Campaign and
Service Medals. He was honorably discharged from
the Army in October 1973 and returned home.
On
December 8, 1973, he married Patsy Ann Lyczewski in
Crookston. The couple made their home in Crookston,
where Harold was employed at Elk River Concrete. In
May 1980, he received a diploma from NRI Schools in
Washington, D.C., certifying him as an air
conditioning and refrigeration technician. In June
1984, he graduated from the East Grand Forks
Technical College with an associate's degree in
parts service. He worked at Dee, Inc. in Crookston
and in 1988, began working for Transystems in
Crookston. In 1991, he began working for Arctco,
Inc. in Thief River Falls. Later, he purchased his
own truck, which he leased to Anderson Trucking
Service of St. Cloud and operated it until ill
health forced him to retire in April
2003.
Harold
loved to spend time with his nieces and nephews
biking, fishing and watching them play video games.
He was a long time member of Trinity Lutheran
Church in Crookston.
Survivors
include his wife, Pat; a brother, John Jr. (Ellen)
of Red Lake Falls; a sister, Joann (Kent)
Christianson of Waco, Texas; a brother-in-law,
Wendall Owens of Forest Lake; his mother-in-law,
Helen Lyczewski of Crookston; two sisters-in-law
and a brother-in-law; 16 nieces and nephews; and
five great-nieces and great-nephews.
Harold
was preceded in death by his parents; a sister,
Janet Owens; a brother, Clayton; a niece; his
father-in-law, Norbert Lyczewski; and a
