Grygla
- Glen Saxvold, 74, died on Friday, November
29, 2002 at his home in Grygla.
Funeral
services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday,
December 4 (today) at Grace Lutheran Church in
Grygla with Rev. Paul Knutson officiating. Cynthia
Hagen will provide special music and Mandi Bothum
and Erika Halvorson will perform a duet.
Casketbearers will be Owen Hagen, Jeffrey Hagen,
Darwin Hagen, Rocky Hagen, Arlo Hagen, Ronald
Lawrence and Michael Willie. Interment will be in
Landstad Cemetery in Gatzke.
Glen
Bennit Saxvold was born on October 5, 1928, the son
of Gustav B. and Berit K. (Sakrismo) Saxvold, on
the family farm near Gatzke. He was baptized and
confirmed at Landstad Lutheran Church. He grew up
and attended country school near Grygla and worked
on the family farm. He went to Florida and was a
commercial fisherman for about a year. He also
worked construction in Alaska in the early 1960s.
He owned and operated his own bulldozing business
for the last 20 years.
Glen was
a member of United Lutheran Church in Gatzke. He
enjoyed hunting and fishing and going for drives in
the country. Glen helped out family and friends
with whatever they might need. He was a very quiet
and family-oriented man.
Survivors
include five sisters, Ingeborg Loven of Thief River
Falls; Elizabeth Holte of Grygla, Hennie (Otto)
Hagen of Grygla, June (Fred) Cossentine of Eagle
Bend and Dagney (Carlyle) Boberg of Fairbanks,
Alaska; six nephews and ten nieces; and many other
relatives and friends.
Glen was
preceded in death by his parents; a nephews; two
brothers-in-law; and a special friend, Florence
