Richard
Savage, 70
Winnipeg,
Manitoba, Canada - Richard Savage, died Friday,
June 22, 2001 at Selkirk Hospital.
Burial,
held at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, June 25, at Glen Eden
Cemetery, was followed by a 3 p.m. memorial service
at St. Anne's Anglican Church. Gilbart Funeral Home
of Selkirk was in charge of the
arrangements.
Richard
Owen Savage was born and grew up in West Kildonan,
leaving in 1994 to live at his summer home at
Boulder Bay. He was a printer by trade for 50
years, working for Eaton's Printing, the Public
Press and for the last 35 years, with the Winnipeg
Free Press.
He
was a member of St. Anne's Anglican Church and for
37 years was an active member of the 38th Winnipeg
Scout Groups as a Cub, Scout, Scoutmaster and
District Commissioner. He made many friends in
Thief River Falls during his years of participation
in the Voyageur Trails District Scout Expo and was
recognized as the only one who wore a wide-brimmed
"Smoky the Bear" hat.
Richard
is survived by his wife, Pat; three sons, Sid, Ken
(Beki) and Dennis (Wendy); seven grandchildren; his
mother, Violet Savage; three sisters, Vi (Frank)
Swonnell, Lil (Alan) Matwichuk and Marion Gray; six
brothers, Bill (Diane), Victor (Muriel), Bob
(Marina), Harry, David (Kathy) and George; and
numerous nieces and nephews.
He
was preceded in death by his father, Richard.
