Thief
River Falls - Joel Sanchez, 40, died on
Wednesday, May 21, 2003 at Altru Hospital in Grand
Forks, N.D.
Wake
services will be held at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, May
28 (today) at the Johnson-Green Funeral Home in
Thief River Falls with the Rev. Segundo presiding.
Special music will be provided by Diane Johnson.
Visitation will be held for one hour prior to
services.
Joel
Sanchez was born on August 18, 1962, the son of
Alfonso and Teresa (Montes) Sanchez, in Cali,
Colombia. He graduated from high school in 1979 in
Jordan de Sajonia and studied at Guaimaral
Institute of Aviation in Bogota, Colombia and
graduated as a professional pilot. Joel served in
the Colombian Army, Artillery Unit as a 2nd
Lieutenant officer. Joel worked in Texas for two
years before coming to Thief River Falls, where he
has worked for the last two years at Arctic Cat. He
enjoyed listening to music, reading, tennis and
enjoyed the weekends visiting his relatives at Lake
of the Woods.
Survivors
include his mother, Teresa Sanchez of Bogota,
Colombia; brother, Alfonso of Bogota; and sisters,
Margarita and Chela, both of Bogota, and Rosa Maria
(Darryl) Smith of Williams.
Joel was
preceded in death by his father, Alfonso
Sanchez.
