James Salveson, 77

Sauk City, Wisc. - James J. "Jim" Salveson, 77, died Sunday, December 23, 2001 at Sauk Prairie Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, December 26, at St. John's Lutheran Church with Rev. Fred Rilling officiating. Burial, with graveside military services conducted by Lachmund-Cramer VFW Post 7694, was in Prairie du Sac Cemetery. Gnewikow-Hooverson Funeral Home of Sauk City was in charge of the arrangements.

James J. Salveson was born on May 15, 1924 in Grygla, the son of Sivert and Inga (Brevik) Salveson. He served in the U.S. Navy with the Seabees in the Pacific during World War II.

On December 17, 1947, he was united in marriage to Eileen Johnson. Eileen died on November 19, 1998.

On May 17, 2000, Jim married Barbara Leyson.

Prior to his retirement, he was employed as an alcohol and drug counselor for Tri-County Human Services.

Jim was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church of Prairie du Sac, a lifetime member of Lachmund- Cramer VFW Post 7694, and a lifetime member and past president of Sons of Norway.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara of Sauk City; three daughters, Bonnie (Bob) Kehl and Linda (John) Herbst, both of Sauk City, and Julie (Randy) Hehenberger of Yukon, Okla.; two sons, Dean (Cathy) Salveson of Sauk City and Wayne (Wendy) Salveson of Byron, Ill.; 21 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; three sisters, Lorna (John) Hohle of St. Paul and Hazel Holthusen and Alice Peterson, both of Grygla; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents and first wife, Eileen. A00003B2002JA16
