- Mabel "Mae" Sabourin, 86, died Wednesday,
March 27, 2002 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks,
N.D.
A
service of Christian burial was
held
Saturday, March 30, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph's
Catholic Church in Brooks with Father Tim Bushy
officiating. Lorraine Mercil was the organist.
Servers were Jordan Riendeau and Jacob Riendeau.
Casketbearers were Andrew Genereux, Adam Genereux,
Paul Hoefer, Darold Dalton, Devin Glass, and Darin
Glass. Interment was in St. Joseph's Catholic
Cemetery in Brooks with Green Funeral Home of Thief
River Falls in charge of the
arrangements.
Mabel
LeRoux was born on August 17, 1915 at Brooks, the
daughter of Paul and Odelia (Hince) LeRoux. She
grew up and attended school at Brooks.
On
March 1, 1938, she was united in marriage to James
Samuel Sabourin in Brooks where the couple made
their home. Mae worked at Third Base, Brooks Cheese
Factory, Brooks Corner, as a depot agent, as a
switchboard operator and as the owner and operator
of Sabourin Bar. James died on September 6,
1982.
Mae
was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church where
she was active in the Guild, played organ, served
on the St. Joseph's Cemetery committee, and was a
member of the St. Ann's Society.
She
enjoyed playing cards with family and friends,
crocheting, painting pictures, bowling, and
gardening.
Mae
is survived by a son, LeRoy Sabourin of Brooks; a
daughter, Rose Marie Jolly of Brooks; four
grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and several
nephews and nieces.
She
was preceded in death by her husband; an infant
daughter, Janice Mae; her parents; and 14
siblings.
