Ruby Rystad, 77 Oklee - Ruby Rystad, 77, died on Wednesday, June 25, 2003 at Northwest Medical Center in Thief River Falls. A private family service will be held at a later date. Ruby Gladys Slettvedt was born in rural Oklee on February 17, 1926, the daughter of Ole and Clara (Ingvaldson) Slettvedt. She was baptized and confirmed in Oklee. She grew up and attended public school in Oklee, graduating from high school in 1943. On May 12, 1946, Ruby was united in marriage to Elton Rystad in Red Lake Falls. The couple farmed in Oklee until moving to East Grand Forks in 1948. She lived much of her life in the Oklee and Grand Forks, N.D., areas. Since Elton's death in 1999, she has been residing in Oklee. Survivors include her children, LaVonne (Don) Brown of Oklee, James (Donna) Rystad of Red Lake Falls, Roy (Carolyn) Rystad of Oklee, and Barbara (Gary) Weberg of Wylie, Texas; and eight grandchildren.
