River Falls - Allen Rux, 51, died Saturday, May
5, 2001 at Northwest Medical Center in Thief River
Falls.
Funeral
services will be held at
10:30
a.m. today (Wednesday, May 9) at Trinity Lutheran
Church in Thief River Falls with Rev. John
Wollenzien and Rev. Tim Bauer officiating. Ida
Nordvall will be the organist, and Greg Dally will
be the soloist. Casketbearers will be Wade Jorde,
Craig Olson, T.J. Rux, Paul Hejlik, Troy Larson and
Emery Wicklander. Honorary casketbearers will be
Al's co-workers at the Thief River Falls Post
Office and members of Trinity Lutheran Church
Council. Burial will be in Holt Cemetery in
Holt.
Visitation
was held Tuesday, May 8, from 5 to 8 p.m. with a 7
p.m. prayer service at Trinity Lutheran Church.
Visitation will also be held for one hour prior to
services. Green Funeral Home of Thief River Falls
is in charge of the arrangements.
Allen
Lee Rux was born on August 9, 1949 in Thief River
Falls, the son of Gail and Lillian (Johnson) Rux.
He was baptized and confirmed at First Lutheran
Church in Thief River Falls. He attended Northrup
and Washington Elementary Schools and Lincoln High
School, graduating in 1967. Following high school,
he attended Northland Community College for two
years and then Moorhead State College for two
years, graduating in 1971 with a bachelor's degree
in political science and a minor in elementary
education.
Al
worked in the service parts department at Arctic
Cat for several years before beginning employment
with the U.S. Post Office in Thief River Falls on
December 13, 1980. He first worked nights and
eventually worked at the front counter where he
enjoyed visiting with his many customers.
Al
was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church where he
served on the council and taught Sunday school. He
was a member of the Eagles, Elks and United Postal
Workers, serving as state union representative and
local union president. He was also a past president
of the Thief River Falls Jaycees.
Al
was nominated for the National Newspaper
Association's Benjamin Franklin Community Newspaper
and Postal Partnership Award of Excellence and
wrote several articles regarding legislative issues
for the United Postal Workers newspaper.
He
enjoyed listening to music, reading and spending
time on his computer, and especially, working
crossword puzzles at The Club on Saturday mornings
with his friends.
Al
is survived by his parents, Gail and Lillian Rux of
Thief River Falls; a brother, Gary (Shirley) of
Thief River Falls; a niece; a nephew; a great
nephew; a great nieces; and many other
relatives.
He
was preceded in death by his grandparents, Charlie
and Minnie Johnson and W.E. and Inga Rux; five
uncles; and three cousins.
