Donald Rupprecht, 68

Rupprecht-DonaldThief River Falls - Donald Rupprecht, 68 died on Saturday, December 21, 2002 at his home in rural Thief River Falls.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, December 24 at Silver Creek Lutheran Church in rural Thief River Falls with Rev. David Pretty officiating. Kathy Nelson will be the organist and Van Swanson will be the soloist. Casketbearers will be Roger DeLap, John Sang, Duan Vatsaas, Jarvis Torgerson, Harley Knutson and Bruce Russell. Honorary casketbearers will be Richard Jorde, Vernon Neuschwander and all those present at the service. Interment will be held in Silver Creek Cemetery. Visitation will take place for one hour prior to services at the church.

Donald Richard Rupprecht was born on May 4, 1934, the son of Otto and Edna (Windsnes) Rupprecht in Thief River Falls. He was baptized in 1934. He grew up and attended Sunnyside School District 121 in Marshall County. He was confirmed in 1949 at Silver Creek Lutheran Church. He attended Lincoln High School. After high school, Donald was in the National Guard Company D, 136th Infantry in Thief River Falls from September, 1957 to March, 1965.

On June 26, 1960, he married Margaret Peterson in Thief River Falls. Donald was a self-employed farmer. He also worked seasonal employment with Loeffler Construction and most recently, was employed by Jorde Brothers.

Donald enjoyed deer hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, picnics and welding. He also enjoyed high school sporting events, especially basketball and wrestling matches of his grandchildren. Farming was a lifelong career, which he truly loved. Donald farmed in partnership with his father and later, with his brother, Roger.

He held various positions on the Silver Creek Lutheran Church Council. He served as the Agder Township supervisor and treasurer. He was awarded the Outstanding Young Farmer Award in 1968 and the Conservation Award for Marshall County in 1987.

Survivors include his wife, Margaret; three children, Melodee Rupprecht, Dale (Sherri) and Daryl (Terese), all of Thief River Falls; eight grandchildren; one brother, Roger (Bev) of Thief River Falls; and other relatives and friends.
