Grygla
- Selma Rue, 83, died Friday, June 1, 2001 at
First Care Nursing Home in Fosston.
Funeral
services will be held at 2 p.m. today (Wednesday,
June 6) at Grace Lutheran Church in Grygla with
Rev. Steven Sparley officiating. Tami Sparby will
be the organist, and the soloist will be Lisa
Verbout. Casketbearers will be Bert Amundson, Duane
Langness, Steve Holte, Paul Rue, Ray Bakken and
Duane Lian. Interment will be in St. Petri Cemetery
near Grygla.
Visitation
was held from 1 to 5 p.m. with a 3 p.m. prayer
service on Tuesday, June 5, at Green Funeral Home
in Thief River Falls. Visitation will also be held
for one hour prior to services at the
church.
Selma
was born on February 5, 1918 near Grygla, the
daughter of Simon T. and Clara (Thorsen) Rue. She
attended a country school near Grygla. Following
school, she worked on farms near Grygla. She moved
to Thief River Falls where she was employed in the
laundry and kitchen areas at Northwestern Hospital.
Later, she returned home to take care of her
parents on the family farm. She remained on the
farm with her brother, Ernest, and sister, Cora. In
November of 1999, Selma moved into Grygla where she
had since resided.
Survivors
include two brothers, Ernest and Carl (Hilda), both
of Grygla, and Cora of Grygla.
She
was preceded in death by her parents; a sister,
Hulda Christianson; and a brother, Helmer Rue.
