Engvald Rud, 87

Greenbush - Engvald Rud, 87, died on Thursday, August 14, 2003 in Greenbush Nursing Home.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, August 20 Engvald Rud (today) at Bethel Lutheran Church of Greenbush with the Rev. Bryce Fellbaum officiating. Casketbearers will be Ross Rud, Lori Chenevert, Pam Mokerski, Jason, Ryan and Matt Rud. Honorary casketbearers will be Edwin Stromlund, Ray Johnson, Don Wicklund, Maynard Olson, Roman Thompson, Jeff Everson, Reuben Flaten and Manvil Dvergsten. Interment will be in Bethel Lutheran Cemetery in Greenbush.

Engvald Rud was born in East Park Township of Marshall County on November 5, 1915, the son of Kristian and Janna (Rude) Rud. He spent his childhood and attended school in East Park Township. In his early teenage years, he moved to his sister's farm in Huss and Deer Townships of Roseau County.

On June 4, 1940, he married Gladys Stromlund in Thief River Falls. He worked for Al Kiene Farms in Kennedy until October 1948. From 1948 until 1980, he worked at Greenbush Implement Co. After he retired, he worked for Blawat Farms in Greenbush and sold items at flea markets. He also did woodworking and made some mechanical service calls for area farmers. Engvald enjoyed playing cards, dancing, visiting friends and hunting deer. He was an active member of Bethel Lutheran Church.

Survivors include his wife, Gladys; two sons, Ernie (Marian) Rud of Mora and Cleo "Butch" (Dixie) of Coon Rapids; one daughter, Shirley (Vernon) Everson of Grand Forks, N.D.; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two brothers, Calmer of Thief River Falls and Johnnie of Hawley; and several nieces, nephews, relatives and other friends.

Engvald was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Carl and Andrew Rud; and three sisters, Inga Roppe, Jennie Larson and Alma Wicklund. A00003B2003AG20
