Helen Roy, 91

HelenRoyKarlstad - Helen V. Roy, 91, died on Tuesday, October 8, 2002 at Northwest Medical Center in Thief River Falls.

Funeral services were held on Friday, October 11 at Community Covenant Church in Lake Bronson with Rev. Jim Browning and Rev. Gary Halverson officiating. Ruth Gustafson was the organist and Lolo Germundson was the soloist. Special selections were "What A Friend We Have In Jesus" and "In The Garden." Honorary casketbearers were all those who attended the service. Casketbearers were Helen's grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Interment was in Riverside Cemetery in Lake Bronson.

Helen Victoria Roy was born on September 29, 1911, the daughter of John and Hannah (Anderson) Erickson in Springbrook Township near Halma. She attended the former Beaton School near her home. In March of 1938, Helen was united in marriage to Alex Roy in Hallock. The couple made their home on a farm in Norway Township. In 1968, Helen moved into Karlstad where she has made her home for many years. In recent years, she has resided at the Karlstad Healthcare Center.

Survivors include two sons, Larry (Ruby) of Minto, N.D. and Robert (Doris) of Hallock; one daughter, Adeline (James) Locken of Lancaster; nine grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; one sister, Viola Larson of Baudette; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Gary; and two brothers, Elmer and Ferdie.
