Thief
River Falls - Sylvia Rondorf, 57, died on
Tuesday, July 8, 2003 at her home in Thief River
Falls.
Funeral
services were held on
Saturday,
July 12 at Zion Lutheran Church in Thief River
Falls with the Rev. Mark Luckish officiating.
Casketbearers were Richard Filpula, Stacey Monkman,
John Umber, Keith Olson, Matthew Rondorf and Allen
Holt. Honorary casketbearers were the Northwest
Medical Staff. Interment was in Black River
Lutheran Cemetery in Polk Centre Township of
Pennington County.
Sylvia
A. Olson was born in Warren on February 24, 1946,
the daughter of Roy A. and Violet (Karr) Olson. She
was baptized and confirmed at Black River Lutheran
Church. She grew up and attended school at St.
Hilaire and Thief River Falls, graduating from
Crookston Agricultural School. She also received
her LPN schooling and training at Northland
Technical School in Thief River Falls.
On
June 4, 1966, Sylvia was united in marriage to
Leonard Rondorf. She worked for Arctic Cat for a
short time and as a teacher's aide for a couple of
years. She was employed as a nurse's aide for 20
years and she worked as an LPN for 11 years, all in
the obstetrics department of Northwest Medical
Center in Thief River Falls.
Sylvia
enjoyed music, cooking, crocheting, hunting,
fishing and dancing, especially the polka. She
liked to travel, garden and mostly enjoyed life and
helping people, as well as taking care of exchange
students. She was a member of the Seventh Day
Adventists Church in Thief River Falls, where she
served as an elder, supervisor of the Adventist
School, school volunteer at the church, Christian
Women's and Minnesota Nurses Association. She was a
4-H leader and was awarded Homemaker of the Year in
1986.
Survivors
include her husband, Leonard of Thief River Falls;
children, Tony (Heather) of Dayton, Ohio, and Stacy
Miles of Thief River Falls; three grandchildren;
her mother, Violet Olson of Thief River Falls;
sisters, Barbara (Orville) Holt of Thief River
Falls and Carol (Darrell) Dodge of Barnesville; and
brother, Alvin (Susan) Olson of Angus.
Sylvia
was preceded in death by a son, Craig; her father,
Roy; brother, Roy, Jr.; and several aunts, uncles,
nieces and nephews.
