Nora Rokke, 94

Karlstad - Nora Rokke, 94, formerly of West Valley Township in Marshall County, died Wednesday, May 1, 2002 at Karlstad Healthcare Center in Karlstad.

Rokke obit Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 7, at Bethania Free Lutheran Church in Newfolden with Rev. Phil Rokke officiating. Orpha Schaffhauser was the organist, and Eunice Waterworth was the soloist. Rev. Dennis Gray was the scripture reader. Casketbearers were Jeffrey Bring, Michael Bring, Gerald Hanson, Philip Waterworth, Howard Rokke, and Eldor Westman. Interment was in Bethania Cemetery in Marsh Grove Township of Marshall County with Green Funeral Home of Thief River Falls in charge of the arrangements.

Nora Karine Rokke was born on March 12, 1908 in West Valley Township of Marshall County, the daughter of Adolf Severin and Martha (Hjelle) Rokke. She was baptized on April 19, 1908 and confirmed on October 1, 1922 at Bethania Lutheran Church. She attended West Valley School District 52 and Strandquist High School in 1926. Nora also attended Northstar College in Warren, receiving a high school diploma in 1928. After completing college, she returned to the family farm to help her dad and brothers. Her mother had died when Nora was 10 years old.

She was an active member of Bethania Lutheran Church where she served as Ladies Aid president and taught Sunday school. In 1982, she was named Marshall County Outstanding Senior Citizen.

Nora enjoyed gardening, flowers, and needlepoint.

Survivors include an aunt, six nieces and nephews, 17 great nieces and great nephews, eight great great-nieces and great great-nephews, several cousins, and a sister-in-law.

Preceding Nora in death were her parents; four brothers, Arnold, Edgar, Olger, and Einar; a niece; and a sister-in-law. A00003B2002MY08
