Edgar Rokke, 94

Newfolden - Edgar Rokke, 94, died Wednesday, May 2, 2001 at the C&NC Unit of Northwest Medical Center in Thief River Falls.

Funeral services were held at 11 Rokke a.m. on Monday, May 7, at Bethania Free Lutheran Church, rural Newfolden, with Rev. Raynard Huglen officiating. Orpha Schaffauser was the organist, and a duet was presented by Virgil and Marville Hjelle. Casketbearers were Jeffrey Bring, Michael Bring, Gerald Hanson, Philip Waterworth, Howard Rokke and Eldor Westman. Burial was in Bethania Cemetery in Marsh Grove township of Marshall county. Green Funeral Home of Thief River Falls was in charge of the arrangements.

Edgar O. Rokke was born on January 19, 1907 in West Valley township of Marshall county, the son of Adolf and Martha (Hjelle) Rokke. He was baptized and confirmed at Bethania Free Lutheran Church. Edgar attended West Valley Township School and Strandquist High School. He graduated from Aaker's Business College in Grand Forks, N.D. He farmed on the Rokke family farm until his retirement in 1992. On March 30, 1998, he moved to the Karlstad Health Care Center.

Edgar was a lifetime member of Bethania Free Lutheran Church. For many years, he was a member of the Farmers Coop Creamery Association board in Newfolden, and for a number of years, he was a sexton of Bethania Cemetery.

He enjoyed spending time with his animals, visiting and drinking coffee with family and friends and spending time with his nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews.

Edgar is survived by a sister, Nora Rokke of Karlstad Health Care Center in Karlstad; two sisters-in-law; several nieces and nephews; and many grand nieces, grand nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Arnold, Olger and Einer; and a niece. A00003B2000MY09
