Shirley Roisland, 74

Goodridge - Shirley Roisland, 74, died on Friday, January 10, 2003 at Northwest Medical Center in Thief River Falls.

Funeral services were held on Roisland, Shirley Monday, January 13 at Ekelund Lutheran Church in rural Goodridge with Rev. Robert Dahlen officiating. Tanya Verbout was the organist and Lisa Verbout was the soloist. Casketbearers were Mark Larson, Gerald Bagne, Roger Kriel, Leslie Iverson, Galen Englund and Edgar Miller. Interment was in Ekelund Cemetery in Highlanding Township of Pennington County.

Shirley Brooks was born on May 27, 1928, the daughter of Fred and Myrtle (Grugan) Brooks in Renovo, Pa. She was baptized at the Methodist Church in Renovo. She grew up and attended Renovo High School. Shirley was employed at the Bobby Brooks Factory in Lockhaven, Pa. and was also a cleaner at the Renovo Citizen Bank.

On August 16, 1969, Shirley was united in marriage to Henford Roisland in Goodridge. The couple made their home and farmed in Goodridge. Shirley was a homemaker and enjoyed her married life. She liked spending time with her cats and dogs. She loved the outdoors and working in the garden.

Survivors include her step-daughters, Diane (Mark) Larson of Middle River, Suzann Sande of Devils Lake, N.D., Gail (Steve) Austin of Waleska, Ga. and Lori (Gerald) Bagne of Ramsey; five step-grandchildren; sisters, Doris Wadsworth of Renovo, Pa., Mabel Prebble of Renovo, Pa., Mary Brooks of South Renovo, Pa. and June (John) Kalb of Harpster, Ohio; a brother, Richard (Virginia) Brooks; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Henford; a step-daughter, Candyce; her parents; brothers, James, Robert and Freddie Brooks; and a step son-in-law.
