Bonnie Roisland, 70

Oklee - Bonnie Roisland, 70, died on Thursday, August 8, 2002 at Northwest Medical Center in Thief River Falls.

Funeral services were held on Roisland, Bonnie Photo Monday, August 12 at St. Francis Xavier Church in Oklee with Father John Kleinwachter officiating. Casketbearers were Bonnie's grandchildren. Interment was in St. Francis Xavier Catholic Cemetery in Oklee.

Bonnie Jean Hince was born on May 15, 1932, the daughter of Elmer and Marie (Wicks) Hince on the family farm in Equality Township near Oklee. She was the first child to be baptized into the Catholic faith by Father Keogh Patnode. She was also confirmed in the Catholic faith. Bonnie grew up and attended Oklee High School.

On September 23, 1950, Bonnie married Ernest Roisland in Thief River Falls. She held various jobs in Grand Forks, N.D. and was a hard worker all her life. Bonnie returned to Oklee in 1969. She worked for Inter County for several years in a variety of places, including Oklee School.

Bonnie loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed flowers, reading, bird watching, traveling, riding in R.T.'s truck and movies.

Survivors include five children, Liane (Bruce) Barton of Fergus Falls, Kerry (Carol) Roisland of Grand Forks, N.D., Jan (Ron) Skallet of Thief River Falls, Vicky (Loren) Vettleson of Trail and Kevin (Linda) Roisland of Oklee; 13 grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; four sisters, Sherry (Dave) Kankel of Red Lake Falls, Kathy (Bill) McDonald of Karlstad, Mary Lou (Rudy) Gunderson of Newfolden and Jean (Les) Lien of Gonvick; a brother, Don (Ericka) Hince of Bayreuth, Germany; and many nieces and nephews.

Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Margaret Hince; and brother, Robert Hince.
