Gladys Rogers, 89

Thief River Falls - Gladys Marian Rogers, 89, died on Tuesday, February 4, 2003 at Northwest Medical Center in Thief River Falls. Gladys Rogers

Funeral services were held on Saturday, February 8 at Collins Funeral Chapel in Greenbush with Rev. John Wollenzien officiating. Tammy Wahl was the organist and Chris Cuppett was the vocalist. Casketbearers were Gladys' grandchildre, Lynn Johnson, Peter Johnson, Daran Solbreken, Allan Kosel, Garth Kaste, Thomas Lee and Jon Scherf. Interment was in Bethania Cemetery in Greenbush.

Gladys Marian Erickson was born on January 27, 1914, the daughter of Arne and Martha (Mollerud) Erickson in Soler Township of Roseau County. She attended school and grew up in Greenbush. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith.

In 1939, Gladys was united in marriage to Hans Aanerud. The couple farmed in Barto Township. Hans died in 1944.

In 1946, she married Wilhelm Sundstedt. Together, they operated a general store in northeastern Kittson County. Wilhelm died in 1949.

Gladys later married John Rogers and they ran the Caribou Store. In the early 1960s, she and her family moved to Greenbush. She was employed as a cook at the Keine Farm near Kennedy for 20 years. Gladys spent the next 15 years doing home health care for the elderly in the Lake Bronson, Ross, Roseau, Red Lake Falls and Thief River Falls areas. She enjoyed her family, cooking, baking, joking around and making people laugh. Since June 2001, she has resided at Valley Home in Thief River Falls.

Survivors include her daughter, Gloria (Harlow) Johnson of Thief River Falls; son, Wayne (Kathy) Sundstedt of Montevideo; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one sister, Orpha Larson of Rapid City, S.D.; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Gladys was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands; brothers, Lloyd and Arnold; and a sister, Ella.
