Genevieve Ring, 83

Thief River Falls - Genevieve Ring, 83, died on Thursday, October 31, 2002 at Pioneer Memorial Home in Erskine.

Funeral services were held on Sunday, November 3 at Johnson-Green Funeral Home in Thief River Falls with Rev. David Pretty officiating. Ida Nordvall was the organist and Lindsay Johnson was the soloist. Special music included "In The Garden." Casketbearers were Kent Wagner, Kurt Wagner, Ken Wagner, Ray Wagner, James Olson and Patrick Klein. Interment was in Geneva Cemetery in Alexandria on Monday, November 4.

Genevieve K. Erickson was born on November 12, 1918, the daughter of Gust and Christine (Severson) Erickson in Alexandria. She lived in Nelson where she attended elementary school. She graduated form Alexandria High School. Genevieve was baptized into the Lutheran faith in 1984 at Nazareth Lutheran Church in Holt. She worked as a caterer with her sister, Lorraine, and also managed her father's grocery store in Nelson in 1953. Genevieve worked at Midway Hospital in St. Paul as a nurses aid until 1982. On July 1, 1982, she was united in marriage to Lawrence Ring in Alexandria. The couple made their home in Thief River Falls. Genevieve moved into Pioneer Memorial Care Center in Erskine in September, 2002. She enjoyed writing letters, baking, fishing and loved to visit and have coffee with her friends and neighbors.

Survivors include her husband, Lawrence of Thief River Falls; one sister, Mary Ann Anderson of Cambridge; sisters-in-law, Eleanor Erickson, Erma Erickson and Kathy Erickson, all of Alexandria, and Jane (Byron) Sagmoen of Thief River Falls; and several nieces and nephews.

Genevieve was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Mildred and Lorraine; and three brothers, Clarence, Vernon and Gordon.
