Oklee
- Celina Riel, 100, Oklee's oldest citizen,
died on Tuesday, December 17, 2002 at Pioneer
Medical Care Center in Erskine.
Funeral
services were held on
Friday,
December 20 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church
in Oklee with Rev. John Kleinwachter officiating.
Special music was provided by Barb Melby and Lori
Melby. Casketbearers were Celina's
great-grandchildren. Interment was in St. Francis
Xavier Cemetery.
Celina
Hince was born on July 14, 1902, the daughter of
Hermenegline and Adeline (Asselin) Hince in Lambert
Township of Red Lake County. She was baptized and
confirmed in the Catholic faith.
In
1920, Celina was united in marriage to Albert Riel.
The couple made their home in Oklee. In addition to
raising her own family, Celina was a caregiver to
many of her extended family members throughout her
life. At the age of 60, Celina began working at the
Community Center in Oklee, where she worked for
many years. She enjoyed cooking, needlework, rug
making, quilting and gardening. She was a member of
St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Oklee and
active in St. Ann's Society.
Survivors
include two granddaughters; nine
great-grandchildren; 13 great great-grandchildren;
one great great great-grandson; five nieces and
three nephews; and many great nieces and
nephews.
Celina
was preceded in death by her husband, Albert; two
daughters, Bernice and Almina "Diane"; two
grandchildren; a great-grandson; a sister, Marie
Collette; a brother, Joseph; a sister-in-law; and
