Frances Rhude, 90

Thief River Falls - Frances Rhude, 90, died Sunday, April 15, 2001 at Oakland Park Nursing Home in Thief River Falls.

Funeral services will be held at 7 Rhude Obit p.m.on Saturday, April 21, at Green Funeral Home Chapel in Thief River Falls. Kathy Erickson will play the accordion. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Thief River Falls.

Visitation will be held from noon until the time of services Saturday.

Frances Josephine Faiman was born on May 12, 1910 in Agdar township of Marshall county, the daughter of Jaroslav "Julius" and Marie (Vlasek) Faiman. She attended Busy Beehive School, District 159 in Agdar township for eight years. Frances worked on the family farm until 1929 when she went to Ohio where she worked in a garment factory. In November of 1930, she returned to Thief River Falls.

On July 1, 1932, Frances was united in marriage to Levoy Rhude in Thief River Falls. The couple farmed in Agdar and East Valley townships of Marshall county until 1937 when they moved to Lind township of Roseau county. They farmed there until 1969 when they moved to Thief River Falls where Frances worked at Arctic Cat Enterprises until 1981. Levoy died on July 9, 1987. Frances continued to live in her home until May of 1998 when she moved to Valley Home. Since August 4, 1998, she had resided at Oakland Park Nursing Home.

Survivors include a son, John of Thief River Falls; three daughters, Merry Hamberg and Susan Rhude, both of East Mesa, Ariz. and Bonnie Anderson of Thief River Falls; six grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; a great great-granddaughter; a sister, Florence Faiman in the CNC unit of Northwest Medical Center in Thief River Falls; and many nieces, nephews, grand nieces, grand nephews and cousins.

Frances was preceded in death by her husband; a son, Virgil Rhude in infancy; a grandson, Shawn Hamberg; a great-granddaughter, April Dawn Hamberg; her parents; six sisters, Anna Nygaard Olson, Julia Alexander, Alice Johnson, Mildred Spittstoesser, Marie Torbergson and Libby Benson; and two brothers, Gustav and Julius "Billy" Faiman.
