Reck, 80
Red
Lake Falls - Myron "Dick" Reck, 80, died on
Sunday, October 6, 2002 at Riverview Hospital in
Crookston.
Funeral
services will be held at
10
a.m. on Thursday, October 10 at the Presbyterian
Church in Red Lake Falls with Rev. Russ Harris
officiating. Carol Thompson will be the organist.
Jo Harris, the soloist, wil sing "One Day At A
Time" and the Presbyterian Choir will sing "Beyond
the Sunset" and "No Night There." Casketbearers
will be Dick's grandsons, Kurtis Reck, Christopher
Reck, Shannon Reck, Grant Corbett, Don Gagner and
Ernie Vatthauer. Honorary casketbearers will be
Dick's granddaughters, Kristy Reck, Heather Reck,
Ashley Gagner and great-grandchildren Tyler Reck
and Taylor Reck and all of Dick's relatives and
friends. Interment will be in Oak Grove Cemetery in
Red Lake Falls.
Visitation
will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, October
9 at the Johnson Funeral Home in Red Lake Falls
with a 7 p.m. prayer service. Visitation will also
take place for one hour prior to services at the
church on Thursday.
Myron
Frederick Reck was born on August 24, 1922, the son
of George and Mata (Zinni) Reck in Danube. The
family moved to Cavalier, N.D., where Myron grew to
adulthood.
On
April 9, 1947, he was united in marriage to Grace
Murrien Burt in the Presbyterian Church in rural
Walhalla, N.D. The couple moved to rural Red Lake
Falls, Terrebonne Township in 1949 after purchasing
their farm in 1948. Dick started his Reck Carpenter
Construction Company when his three sons were old
enough to help. He also worked in Grand Forks, N.D.
at Roger Brothers for 13 winters. He and his crew
built the Minnesota State Wheat Building in Red
Lake Falls and other homes and buildings in and
around Red Lake Falls. He was chairman on the
Mentor School Board for 22 years, retiring from the
school board in 1989. He also served on the
Terrebonne Township Board for many years and the
Pine to Prairie Cooperative Center in Red Lake
Falls. Dick was a member of the Presbyterian Church
in Red Lake Falls and was on the church session
there and other Presbyterian churches that he
belonged to. In 1984, Dick and Grace received the
Red Lake County Valley Farmer and Homemaker Award
at the Winter Shows in Crookston. The couple
enjoyed RVing in their mini-home on the weekends
and camping with family and friends. Dick loved his
children, grandchildren and great-granchildren. He
enjoyed horseshoes and building things.
Survivors
include his wife, Grace of Red Lake Falls; three
sons, Milton (Susan) of Mentor, Mayo (Diane) of St.
Paul and Milo (Marilee) of Waseca; three daughters,
Georgene (Doug) Corbett of Minot, N.D., Claudea
Reck of Fargo, N.D. and Michelle (Tim) Richard of
Fargo, N.D.; seven grandchildren; two
great-grandchildren; and several nieces and
nephews.
Dick
was preceded in death by his parents; his
step-mother, Marian; a half-brother, Clarence; and
half-brother in-law, Ed Kindell.
