Thief River Falls - Daniel Rawerts, 69, died Friday, January 30, 2004 at CNC Unit of Northwest Medical Center in Thief River Falls.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2004 at St. John Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls with Reverend Donald Kirchner officiating. Interment will be held in the spring at Oak Grove Cemetery in Red Lake Falls.

Daniel Nicholas Rawerts was born June 7, 1934 in Gervais Township, the son of Vay Thomas and Minnie Elsie (Ulrich) Rawerts. He was baptized and confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church in Red Lake Falls. He attended school in St. Hilaire, and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1954.

On June 25, 1977, Daniel was united in marriage to Carol Ann Gruenhagen at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in St. Paul.

Daniel and Carol lived in Thief River Falls where he was employed at Wilson Brothers Auto Parts for 32 years. Following Carol's death, Daniel lived at Valley Home in Thief River Falls and the past few months has lived at the CNC unit of Northwest Medical Center.

Daniel was an active member of St. John Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls, the Lutheran Laymen's League and church Bible Studies. He also taught Sunday School. Daniel enjoyed singing in the choir at church as well as the Heritage Choir. In his younger years he liked to fish, golf and shoot trap.

Survivors include three sisters, Sylvia Berg of Red Lake Falls, Connie (Rev., Dr. Art) Spomer of Broken Arrow, Okla. and Dr. Patricia (Marvin) Dahl of Bloomington, and Laura Ohlrogge of St. Paul; brothers and sisters-in-law, Norma (Jerry) Gallati of Cushing, Corinne (Weldon) Wilson of St. Cloud, Emily (Gerald) Boleen of White Bear Lake, Gloria (Everett) Acker of Newport, Lowell (Elois) Gruenhagen of Seattle, Wash., Warren (Judy) Gruenhagen of Stillwater and Eva Rawerts of Thief River Falls; many nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews.

Daniel was preceded in death by his wife, Carol on August 22, 1999; parents; sister, Myrna Rawerts; twin brother, Dennis Rawerts and three nephews. A00003B2004FB04
