Strathcona
- Cynthia Doreen Rath, 50, of Strathcona, died
peacefully in the hands of Fr. Bob LaPlante and her
family on Saturday, July 31, 2004 at the Roseau
Area Hospital following a brief fight with cancer.
A Mass of
Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on
Wednesday, August 4, at St. Joseph's Catholic
Church of Benwood with Fr. Bob LaPlante officiating
and honors with the Greenbush Legion Auxiliary.
Interment will be held in Blessed Sacrament
Cemetery of Greenbush following the
lunch.
A
luncheon will be served by the Benwood Ladies Guild
following services at the Church.
Cindy was
born January 15, 1954 in Greenbush to John and
Doris (Kelly) Wilebski. She was raised in the
Greenbush community where she attended school and
was baptized and confirmed in the Catholic faith.
Following
her high school graduation in 1972 she went on to
attend college at the University of North Dakota,
where she received a B.S. degree with a double
major in early childhood and elementary education.
She was
united in marriage to Darryl "Rusty" Rath on August
6, 1977 in Greenbush and the two made their home in
the Benwood community. She and Rusty had two boys,
Jacob in 1981 and Gabe in 1982. Cindy had been
employed by Northwest Community Action Head Start
for the past 29 years.
She was a
loving mother and had a great love for her family,
as well as all the children she taught over the
years in Head Start. She enjoyed every moment she
spent with her 2 nephews, John III and Benji. Her
last great moment was the birth of her niece Hannah
Cynthia Rose.
Cindy was
very active in the St. Joseph's Catholic Church of
the Benwood community where she taught religious
education and was a member of the ladies guild. She
was also a member of the legion auxiliary.
Cindy is
survived by her husband Rusty of Benwood; two sons,
Jacob and Gabriel, both of Strathcona; two
brothers, James (Kay) Wilebski of Grafton, N.D. and
John Jr. (Sue) Wilebski of Benwood; two sisters,
Cheryl (Ralph) Kingsbury of Grafton, N.D., Kathryn
(David) Schafer of Benwood; her mother, Doris
Wilebski of Greenbush; and many nieces, nephews,
and other relatives.
She was
preceded in death by her Father.
