Eldora Ranum, 72

Thief River Falls - Eldora Ranum, 72, died Wednesday, January 9, 2002 at her home in Thief River Falls.

Funeral services were held at 1 Ranum obit p.m. on Saturday, January 12, at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls with Rev. Galen Sylvester officiating. Joyce Halbasch was the organist, and Gene Arveson was the soloist. Casketbearers included Chuck Carlson, Gary Page, Tim Benton, Elton Solseng, Larry Krostue and John Sannes. Interment was in Rindahl Cemetery in New Solum Township of Marshall County with Green Funeral Home of Thief River Falls in charge of the arrangements.

Eldora Elaine Knutson was born on February 12, 1929 in Humboldt, the daughter of Oscar C. and Lillian E. (Matthew) Knutson. She was baptized on April 4, 1931 at the Methodist Church in Humboldt. Eldora grew up and attended school in Thief River Falls, graduating from Lincoln High School in 1945. She attended Normal Teachers Training in Thief River Falls and took art classes via correspondence.

On March 2, 1946, she was united in marriage to Ferrl L. Ranum at Zion Lutheran Church parsonage in Thief River Falls. Eldora worked at various jobs prior to her 16-year employment as clerk and state coordinator for the Selective Service. She retired in 1969.

She enjoyed working with dolls, and along with Kathy (Mrs. Chuck) Carlson, founded Victoria Doll House in 1988. She also enjoyed a variety of crafts and working with family history.

Eldora was a longtime member of the American Legion Auxiliary and a founding member of the Fibromyalgia Support Group in Thief River Falls.

Survivors include her husband, Ferrl; two sisters, Louise (Martin) Solseng of Thief River Falls and Aves Yanuszeski of Lake Havasu City, Ariz.; two nieces; and several cousins.

Eldora was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents. A00003B2002JA16
