Potucek, 88
Warren
- Muriel Potucek, 88, died Friday, March 30,
2001 at her home in Warren.
Funeral
services were held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, March 3,
at Zion Lutheran Church in Warren with Rev. Tom
Zeller officiating. Casketbearers were Scott
Simonson, Steve Simonson, Chad Nowacki, Rodney
Knutson, Ryan Knutson and Jason Potucek. Honorary
casketbearers were all of Muriel's grandchildren
and great-grandchildren. Interment was in Comstock
township of Marshall county with Quanrud-DuBore
Funeral Home of Warren in charge of the
arrangements.
Muriel
Rebecca Wildes was born on May 24, 1912 in Comstock
township of Marshall county, the daughter of
William and Florence (Vernon) Wildes. As a child,
she homesteaded with her family near Roseau in what
is now Beltrami State Forest. While still a child,
she returned to the Radium area and attended a
country school.
On
June 21,1936, Muriel married Albert Joseph Potucek.
The couple made their home near Radium where they
farmed and raised their family. Albert died on
March 1, 1967. Muriel remained on the farm until
1997 when she moved to the Landmark Center East in
Warren.
She
was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church of Radium
and its Ladies Aid.
Muriel
enjoyed gardening, cooking, baking, embroidery and
visiting with her grandchildren and
great-grandchildren.
Survivors
include four daughters, Florence Knutson of Viking,
Yvonne (Jim) Peplinski of Early, Texas, Marjorie
(Jerome) Simonson of Power, Mont. and Carol (Alden)
Nowacki of Marshall; two sons, Donald (Jerrilyn)
Potucek and Keith "Sam" (friend Sue Morgan), both
of Warren; 28 grandchildren; 58
great-grandchildren; two great great-grandchildren;
and several nieces and nephews.
Muriel
was preceded in death by her parents; a brother,
Raymond; a sister, Gladys Otto; a son-in-law, Neil
Knutson; and two infant grandsons.
