Dorothy Poolman, 88

Thief River Falls - Dorothy Poolman, 88, died Saturday, April 14, 2001 at Northwest Medical Center in Thief River Falls.

Funeral services will be held at 10 Poolman Obit a.m. on Thursday, April 19, 2001 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls with Rev. Tim Bauer officiating. Ida Nordvall will be the organist, and the soloist will be Phyllis Nowacki. Casketbearers will be Don Kilfoyl, Jerry Kilfoyl, Bob Toussiant, Doug Lafond, Don Holy and Kenny Poolman. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Thief River Falls.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. today (Wednesday, April 18) at Green Funeral Home and for one hour prior to services at the church Thursday.

Dorothy Ann Erickson was born on April 30, 1912 in Thief River Falls, the daughter of Ben and Louise (Lonson) Erickson. She was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls. Dorothy attended school in Thief River Falls and graduated from Lincoln High School.

On October 6, 1941, she was united in marriage to Francis Edward Poolman at Crookston. The couple farmed near Grygla and moved to Thief River Falls in 1948. Dorothy lived at Valley Home for a time before moving to Oakland Park Nursing Home where she had since resided.

She was an active member of the Eagles Auxiliary and enjoyed playing cards and shopping.

Dorothy is survived by a son, Robert "Butch" (Susan) Poolman of Pelican Rapids; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a daughter, Mary Lehr; three sisters, Marion Lochett, Sonja Dempster and Beatrice Erickson; and two brothers, Robert Erickson and Alvin Erickson.
