Polansky, 92
Grygla
- Mary Polansky, 92, died Thursday, February
14, 2002 at Greenbush Community Nursing Home in
Greenbush.
Mass
of Christian burial was
held
at 10 a.m. Monday, February 18, at St. Clements
Catholic Church in Grygla with Father John
Kleinwachter presiding. Melissa Verbout was the
organist. Melissa also performed a vocal solo.
Special music was also presented by Mary's
grandchildren. Gary Polansky and Paul Polansky were
the readers, and Mary Ann Verbout and Angeline
Verbout were gift presenters. Lisa McCoy and Cathy
Friedt were the eucharistic ministers. Matthew
Verbout and Timothy Polansky served as altar
boys.
Casketbearers
included Dale Verbout, Dennis Verbout, Mark
Polansky, George Polansky Jr., Gerald Verbout, and
John Verbout. Honorary casketbearers were all of
Mary's grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and
great great-grandchildren. Interment was in St.
Bernard's Catholic Cemetery in Thief River Falls
with Green Funeral Home in charge of the
arrangements.
Mary
Katherine Musial was born on April 16, 1909 in
Gilman, Wisc., the daughter of Andrew and Anna
(Skorski) Musial. She was baptized and confirmed in
the Catholic faith and attended school in Gilman.
In 1920, she moved with her family to Whitford
Township of Marshall County near Middle
River.
On
October 13, 1925, Mary was united in marriage to
George Paul Polansky at St. Joseph's Catholic
Church in Middle River. The couple resided in the
Thief Lake area where Mary was a homemaker and
worked along side her husband on the farm. In 1938,
they couple moved to Gatzke. After George's death
in 1960, Mary cared for sick people in their homes
and sometimes stayed with them at their home in
Roseau. In the late 1970's, she returned to Grygla.
She was employed by Marshall County Social Service,
cleaning houses in Grygla until her retirement in
1990. In March of 2001, she moved to Greenbush
Community Nursing Home.
Mary
was a member of St. Clements Catholic Church where
she helped organize the Ladies Aid. She was also a
member of the Rollis school board.
She
enjoyed flowers and flower gardens, crystal and
china, and spending time with her
grandchildren.
Mary
is survived by three sons, George (Clara) Polansky
of Lewistown, Mont., Eugene (Marge) Polansky of
Gatzke, and Harold Polansky of Grygla; two
daughters, Mary Ann (Robert) Verbout and Angeline
(Donald) Verbout, both of Grygla; 24 grandchildren;
61 great-grandchildren; 13 great
great-grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, Betty
Polansky of Menomonie, Wisc.; a brother, Anthony
Musial of Ventura, Calif.; five sisters, Stella
Streit of Fargo, N.D., Louise Sauer, Victoria
(William) Jaraz, and Veronica Day, all of
Milwaukee, Wisc., and Isabelle Gorman of Fon Du
Lac, Wisc.; and several nieces and
nephews.
She
was preceded in death by her husband; a son,
Lawrence; her parents; a granddaughter, Patricia
Polansky; a grandson, Donavon Verbout; a sister,
Berniece Jaris; five brothers, Adam, John, Frank,
Stanley, and Walter; and five brothers-in-law.
