Tilman "Tiny" Peterson, 95

Peterson_Tilman Thief River Falls - Tilman "Tiny" Peterson, 95, died on Thursday, September 18, 2003 at Oakland Park Nursing Home in Thief River Falls.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, September 20 at Zion Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls with the Rev. Dennis Raymond officiating. Casketbearers were Paul Speilman, John Erickson, Eric Peterson, Treavor Peterson, Bob Nelson and Les Vigness. Honorary casketbearers were members of the Zion Church Properties Board. Interment was in Greenwood Cemetery in Thief River Falls.

Tilman J. Peterson was born on February 25, 1908 in Kempton, N.D., the son of Henry and Johanna (Ives) Peterson. He was baptized and confirmed at Ebenezer Lutheran Church in Northwood, N.D., and completed LaSalle Correspondence School. He entered the United States Navy on September 12, 1944 and was honorably discharged on November 11, 1945. He owned and operated O.P. Electric in Thief River Falls. He was a master electrician.

On May 24, 1976, he married Helen Horgen. Tilman enjoyed gardening, hunting and fishing. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and was active on the Properties Board and Friday morning men's breakfast. He was also a member of the Thief River Falls American Legion Ekelund-Holmstrom Post.

Survivors include his wife, Helen of Thief River Falls; six children, Joan (Ervin) Laber of West Fargo, N.D., James (Betty) of International Falls; Jeri Yandow of St. Albans, Vt., Darrell (Marianne) of Dayton, Tim (Sandra) of Thief River Falls and Margo (Gordy) Peterson of Thief River Falls; six grandchildren; one brother, Emil Peterson of Northwood, N.D.; one sister, Ida Thorstenson of Northwood, N.D.; and several nieces and nephews.

Tilman was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Engwald, Magnus and Helmer; and sisters, Milla Peterson, Selma Holweger and Dagny Conrads.
