Red
Lake Falls - Rose Peterson, 82, died on Sunday,
April 13, 2003 at Hillcrest Nursing Home in Red
Lake Falls.
Funeral
services were held on Saturday, April 19 at St.
John's Lutheran Church in Red Lake Falls with the
Rev. Jeffrey Lytle officiating. Casey Klipping was
the organist and Gale Dorothy was the soloist.
Casketbearers were Allen Solie, Roger Solie, Kelly
Solie, Chad Peterson, Hans Melgaard and Gary
Kaltenberg. Interment was in the First English
Lutheran Cemetery in Mentor.
Rose
Louise Elizabeth Peterson was born on May 14, 1920,
the daughter of Gust C. and Maria (Heiden)
Peterson, in Lake Williams Township of Kidder
County, N.D. In 1938, the family moved to Polk
County and in 1940, they moved to Lake Pleasant
Township of Red Lake County. Rose graduated from
Crookston High School in 1939 and worked at the
Sweet Shop in Crookston.
On
November 16, 1940, Rose was united in marriage to
Robert L. Peterson at St. John Lutheran Church. The
couple farmed near Terrebonne Township for many
years. They were members of the First English
Lutheran Church in Mentor until it closed in the
1960s and then they joined St. John's Lutheran
Church. Rose worked at the dances at Maple Lake
Pavilion from 1958 to 1970 and sold Avon from 1968
to 1983. She loved to dance, garden, sew and
embroider. Rose and Robert spent winters in
Mission, Texas from 1983 to 1999, when they moved
to the Country Place in Erskine. In 2002, they
moved to Hillcrest Nursing Home in Red Lake
Falls.
Survivors
include husband, Robert; daughters, Marcia (Jim)
Clark of Hot Springs Village, Ark., Janet (Merle)
Solie of Mentor, and Renae (Woody) Hunter of
Pateros, Wash.; sons, Neil (Peggy) of Mentor, and
Jim (Yannie) of New South Wales, Australia; 14
grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; sisters,
Hazel Ollie of Plummer, Marion Kaltenberg of
Crookston, and Alice (Larry) Wentz of Wenatchee,
Wash.; brothers, Fritz (Ruth) of Seattle, Wash.,
Floyd (Fay) of Sacramento, Calif., Allen (Wanda) of
Mount Lake Terrace, Wash., and Lester (Wanda) of
Silverdale, Wash.; and many nieces and
nephews.
Rose was
preceded in death by her parents; and brothers,
Melvin (Cristal) and Kenneth (Beth).
