Mary
Peterson, 59
East
Grand Forks - Mary Peterson, 59, formerly of
Fosston and Karlstad, died on Wednesday, May 21,
2003 at REM Northstar Red River West Group Home in
East Grand Forks.
Memorial
services were held on Saturday, May 31 at First
Lutheran Church in Karlstad with the Rev. Gary
Halverson officiating. Interment was in the
Karlstad City Cemetery.
Mary
Eileen Peterson was born on October 4, 1943, the
daughter of Raymond E. and Florence H. (Wollin)
Peterson, in Thief River Falls. She was raised on a
farm in Lind Township of Roseau County. She resided
there with her family until she moved to Brainerd
in 1963. In 1976, she moved to the East Polk County
Group Home in Fosston, where she resided for the
next 26 years. She was currently living in the REM
Northstar Red River West Group Home in East Grand
Forks.
Mary had
many good friends and caregivers through the years.
She had a fondness for pets and all animals. She
enjoyed the many activities that she took part in
with her friends at the group home and greatly
enjoyed the time she spent with her family and
friends. Special Olympics participation was a
highlight in her life.
Survivors
include her mother, Florence Peterson of White Bear
Lake; one brother, Neil (Linda) of Thief River
Falls; one sister, Barbara Kammen of Inver Grove
Heights; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews
and nieces.
Mary was
preceded in death by her father; an infant brother,
Gail; and one sister, Beverly.
