Kate Peterson, 54

Acton, Mass. - Kate A. Peterson, 54, died Sunday, July 29, 2001 at her home in Acton, Mass.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, August 2, at the Congregational Church in Acton. Interment was in Woodlawn Cemetery in Acton with MacRae-Tunnicliffe Funeral Home of Concord, Mass. in charge of the arrangements.

Kate Angus was born in Orange, N.J. and grew up in Union, N.J. In 1969, she graduated from the University of Wisconsin at Madison with a bachelor of arts degree in mathematics.

In 1972, she began her career as a systems engineer at MITRE where she continued to work for 27 years. During that time, she focused on the development of various programs for the Air Force, including the Early Warning Missile Defense System, Crisis Response Systems and other information processing systems.

Kate moved to Acton, Mass. in 1976 and was the wife of former Thief River Falls resident Paul Peterson.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son, Andrew Peterson of Boston; a daughter, Nora, a student at Arizona State University; her mother Aletta (Bornhuetter) Angus of Clifton, N.J.; two sisters, Robin Clark of Fountain Hills, Ariz. and Julie Markoski of Alexandria, Va.; and several nieces and nephews.
